Welcome to the premier private Board and Train program in San Diego! Our focus is on quality over quantity, which is why we maintain a1:1 ratio—one dog per trainer. We also value transparency in training; all sessions are recorded so can track your dog's progress. We are also the only stay and train utilizing kennels instead of crates. Of course our kennels are large enough to accommodate your dog’s crate if you desire.

Why opt for stay and train? It's ideal for those who find it challenging train their dog due to time constraints. Dogs dealing with anxious, reactive, or excitable behaviors receive a fresh start and new skills before heading back home. Additionally, it's a great choice for owners who prefer not to leave their dog in the hectic environment of daycare while on vacation. Private Sessions

You, your dog, and a trainer.

Our positive result proven philosophy is about what is best for you, your dog, and your lifestyle. We don't just teach your dog or puppy how to sit and come, we teach you how to raise the dog you envision. All of our trainings are approximately 1hour in length and are customized to meet your needs. At the end of each training, you will get a personalized hand written recap of our session together for your records.

We help with: Behaviors such as sit, down, stay, heel, leave it, drop it, recall (come), place, heel, and leash walking. Emotional regulation behaviors such as mouthing, jumping, barking/whining, calm, all done (off switch), crate training, counter surfing, impulse control, anxious behaviors, building confidence, reactivity (barking & pulling on leash), threshold, emergency stop, proper socialization, potty training, and name recognition. As well as answering any other questions along the way.

All sessions start with a virtual appointment - $65

In this virtual session we discuss goals, canine psychology, and begin foundational training prior to meeting in person saving you time and money.

Once we determine the best training option for you and your dog we can meet in my environment controlled training yard $65 (1hr) or $110 (1 hr training at a park or your home).

If you have been wanting to train your own dog, but you worry about getting it wrong, or feel overwhelmed about knowing where to start, online training is perfect for you. Online training eliminates the pseudo effect you can get when a trainer is present because you are the trainer. No fancy movements to memorize or special training equipment required.

TONY'S JOURNEY: I want to take a little more time to thank you for your diligent and skilled work with Tony. It’s early since he finished training, but I’m going to call it life changing! It has been one week since he finished two weeks of “school" with you. During that week, I have been taking him to different environments and you have given me some additional hand-off coaching to help us navigate difficult situations. Before training, I was thrilled if I could complete one single walk without a Tony meltdown. It’s been an entire week now with zero blow ups (well, I guess we technically had one during our coaching at the park). He has navigated busy stores and parks with other dogs.

Today we did one of our normal neighborhood walks for the first time, pull-free and meltdown-free. We passed (in this order) one well behaved dog with a careful handler, two barky/fluffies on flexi-leads with a cognizant handler who took them around a corner, immediately followed by an older but excited dog approaching us, followed a few minutes later (but after a sniff break) by two super out of control and reactive doodles at the end of long leashes with an upset, yelling owner. I was sure this situation would trigger a big reaction given the behavior of the dogs and their owner. That alone would have justified a reaction, even in a normal dog. Also, Tony seemed to be in “fun/seeking trouble” mode by that time, but he handled that too.

As I’ve shared (and you have witnessed), having a dog like Tony essentially dumped on us by a less than ethical rescue group has been a massive burden and tremendously stressful. In managing his emotions and separation anxiety, we have shaped our lives around the dog to the point that he has been a wedge in our marriage. I have tried other trainers and behaviorists with little to no results, and often received counterproductive advice that escalated his behaviors. The only effective methods and cohesive explanations I found in the last two and a half years with Tony came from an online course, which helped but was limiting because I had no access to coaching to refine and problem solve. This left us at a plateau where things were far better than they were but far from good and still extremely stressful.

I could see from your videos with Tony that you tried different things and made adjustments as needed. He’s made a ton of progress and I hope we continue (but we also may re-book for more school later).
